Oval (Pakistan Online) Former cricketer and commentator of
the Indian cricket team Sunil Gavaskar got into a firestorm over Virat Kohli's
shot selection in the final of the ICC World Test Championship.
On Sunday, Australia defeated India by 209 runs in the final
of the ICC World Test Championship to become the world champions of Test
cricket. They got out after scoring 49 runs. Due to an irresponsible shot
played by Kohli, his ball was brilliantly caught in the slip by Smith, and not only
the Indian fans but also the former Indian cricketers and analysts cried.
Analyzing the match on a live TV program, Gavaskar was
furious at Kohli's dismissal and could not control his words. The host
questioned India's 3 dismissals in 2 balls, especially as Virat's wicket fell.
So how did he play that shot? In response, Sunil Gavaskar said, 'It was a very
bad shot, it was a very ordinary shot outside the off-stump, maybe he was more
concerned about getting his half-century because he needed a run. That's what
happens when you're near a milestone.
Sunil Gavaskar said
'You are asking me how he did it, you should ask Virat Kohli why he played that
shot. We have talked many times that when we want to win a match, we need long innings.'' How can you do that, how can you play it when the ball is outside
the off-stump?
