New Delhi (Daily Pakistan Online) It is said that one should drink more water to stay healthy but it is a question of how much water a person should drink daily. To determine our body's hydration needs, nutritionist Shikha Kumari has shared a general guideline for water intake for different age groups in a post on her Instagram page.

Water intake in childhood:

Children between the ages of 4 and 8 need about 5 cups or 1200 milliliters of water. It should also include food and drinks.

Water consumption before and during puberty:

Between the ages of 9 and 13 years should drink about 7 to 8 cups or 1600 to 1900 milliliters of water per day.

Water consumption in youth:

Teens ages 14 to 18 should have 8 to 11 cups or 1900 to 2600 milliliters of water per day.

Water intake in youth:

Adults ages 19 to 64 should drink 8 to 11 cups or 2,000 to 3,000 milliliters of water per day, as should teenagers. Individual water needs in adolescence may vary based on factors such as weight, activity level, and climate.

Water intake for the elderly:

Adults age 65 and older should consume about 8 to 11 cups or 2,000 to 3,000 milliliters of water per day. Adequate hydration becomes especially important in older age due to potential changes in thirst perception and increased risk of dehydration.
